Neurological physiotherapy

What is neurological physiotherapy?

Our treatments aim to help patients suffering from a neurological condition (or the aftermath of such a disease) regain a certain level of physical and mental health.

»

Neurological physiotherapy services are available to anyone living with the sequelae of a stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, another neurodegenerative disease, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or any other progressive condition currently under medical care.

Following the diagnosis of one of these conditions, you may likely experience changes in your physical abilities, energy levels, and endurance.

Physiotherapy treatments will assist you in addressing one or more of the following aspects:

  • Muscle strength
  • General endurance
  • Range of motion
  • Activities of daily living (walking, climbing stairs, grasping)
  • Balance
  • Coordination
  • Concentration
  • Flexibility
  • Hypertonicity/hypotonicity

The goals of physiotherapy are diverse. It may involve maintaining or increasing the gains achieved during an intensive functional rehabilitation phase. It can also include fall prevention, optimizing independence in activities of daily living, or promoting the maintenance of physical abilities following a recent degenerative diagnosis.

WHEN TO SEEK CONSULTATION

In addition to helping manage your pain, physiotherapists can prevent the reduction of your quality of life by addressing issues related to balance, stiffness, weakness, fatigue, and loss of confidence in your physical abilities.
