Physiotherapy after a road accident (SAAQ)

Have you suffered a bodily injury as a result of a road accident, and your doctor or your SAAQ agent suggests physiotherapy interventions? We can help you!

»

Following a road accident, your doctor or your agent at the SAAQ (Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec) may suggest physiotherapy treatments.

Our team has the expertise to assist you with a bodily injury resulting from a road accident. Through an evaluation of your condition and close collaboration between the physiotherapists, physical rehabilitation technologists, and yourself, an intervention plan will be proposed to help you regain your abilities.

TREATED CONDITIONS (not exhaustive):

  • Cervical, thoracic, or lumbar sprain;
  • Herniated disc;
  • Shoulder sprain, bursitis, tendonitis, dislocation/subluxation;
  • Rotator cuff tear in the shoulder;
  • Elbow sprain, bursitis, tendonitis, tear;
  • Hand sprain, tendonitis;
  • Hip bursitis, tendonitis;
  • Knee sprain, bursitis, tendonitis;
    Ankle sprain;
  • Any ligament or muscle injuries;
  • Mild traumatic brain injury.

HOW PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENTS WORK (SAAQ)

  • Report your road accident to obtain your claim number (see the attached link: SAAQ - What to Do in Case of an Accident);
  • Consult a doctor of your choice;
  • According to medical recommendations, you may be a candidate for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and/or acupuncture treatments, which should be indicated on the medical certificate;
  • Call or visit our branch with the medical certificate, and we can initiate a request for authorization with the SAAQ.
  • Once we receive authorization from the SAAQ, we can schedule an evaluation as soon as possible with one of our physiotherapists at no cost.
  • After the evaluation, you can choose to continue your tag of 20 treatments with a physical rehabilitation technologist who will apply the treatment plan at no cost, or continue with the physiotherapist, where a mandatory fee of $25.00 will be charged.
  • Please note that the SAAQ operates on a tag system of 20 treatments.
  • Therefore, after 15 treatments, a new request must be scheduled by the physiotherapist, and a fee of $25.00 will be charged for this reassessment.
  • The $25.00 fee can be reimbursed by your automobile insurance by calling to add Amendment 34, personal insurance, to your policy. This amendment is offered at a low additional cost per year and allows you to be reimbursed for your medical expenses, such as physiotherapy treatments, for bodily injuries caused in a car accident. You also have the option of being reimbursed by your private group insurance company.
  • For more information about this internal policy, the $25.00 fee, or Amendment 34, feel free to call us at 450 430-4459.

CLINIC TRANSFER

You have the right to choose your rehabilitation facility. If you wish to transfer your care to our team to benefit from our services or if you would like to receive occupational therapy and physiotherapy treatments under one roof with us, a clinic transfer can take place. You will only need your most recent medical prescription, and we can quickly take care of your file.
