These treatments are fully covered by the SAAQ. Our team of occupational therapists have the ability to accompany you during the rehabilitation process following a car accident.

Through an evaluation of your condition, your occupations and your environment, an intervention plan, with your input, will be presented to you.  The intervention plan will assist you to regain your professional identity as well as regain your independance with your daily life.

CONDITIONS TREATED (not exhaustive):

  • Cervical, thoracic or lower back pain
  • Herniated disc
  • Shoulder Sprain, bursitis, tendonitis dislocation / subluxation
  • Rotator Cuff Tears in the shoulder
  • Elbow tendonitis, sprain, bursitis, or tears
  • Various hand conditions (see hand therapy section)  
  • Bursitis or tendonitis of the hip 
  • Knee sprain, bursitis or tendonitis
  • Ankle sprain 
  • Ligament or muscle sprain 
  • Mild traumatic brain injury

MODALITIES USED (not exhaustive):

  • Optimisation of endurance, mobility and strength through graduated and progressive. therapeutic activities
  • Simulation of work tasks and functional situations.
  • Planning and support for the return to work.
  • Recommendations for adaptive equipement relevant to the condition.
  • Custom splint fabrication.
  • Education about the condition or symptoms.
  • Teaching the principles of postural hygiene.
  • Teaching safe work techniques.
  • Teaching pain management strategies.
  • Listening and psychosocial support.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TREATMENT PROCEDURE FOR SAAQ

Following a car accident and in order to be eligible for occupational therapy treatments, make sure you follow these steps prescribed by the SAAQ:

  • Report your car accident in order to obtain your claim number; ( See link below: https://saaq.gouv.qc.ca/accident-route/en-cas-accident
  • Consult the doctor of your choice;
  • Depending the medical recommendations, you may be a candidate for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and/or acupuncture treatments. However the recommendation to see other specialists will need to be recorded on the medical certificate;
  • Call or come to our branch with your medical certificate and we will be able to send an authorization request to the SAAQ.
  • Once we receive the authorization from the SAAQ, we can schedule an evaluation within 1 to 5 days.

CLINIC TRANSFER

Only YOU have the right to choose your rehabilitation facility. Therefore, if you wish to transfer your care to our team in order to benefit from our services, or if you would like to benefit from occupational therapy and physiotherapy treatments under the same roof with us, a change of clinic can take place.

 

All you need is to provide us with your latest medical prescription and we will contact the SAAQ to ensure a smooth transition to our clinic.
